Supervisors are encouraged to discuss this with their doctoral candidates.
Notwithstanding this, the doctoral candidate bears full responsibility for the content, structure and academic integrity of the dissertation, including all materials created or modified using AI tools. Any errors, omissions or breaches resulting from the use of AI are the sole responsibility of the author. The doctoral candidate is responsible for ensuring that the final thesis meets the standards of accuracy, originality, transparency and ethical conduct expected in doctoral research.

Information on publication-based dissertations

Only articles/publications written in German or English will be accepted.

The doctoral degree regulations dated September 28, 2023 include guidelines for writing a publication-based dissertation as an appendix.
To the Doctoral Degree Regulations

Please note:
If deviations from points 1 and 2 are being considered, these must be requested by the supervisor from the doctoral committee BEFORE the dissertation is submitted to the dean's office (doctoral office). The application must contain factual information. In addition, the list of submitted scientific publications that are to be part of the publication-based dissertation must also be enclosed. Applications must be submitted exclusively by email to the doctoral office. The decision of the doctoral committee will be communicated by email.
